som riggs and rahul singh are two musicians based in calcutta and darjeeling, respectively.
soma was born and raised in a middle class bengali family. However, unlike most of the typical bengali families som's parents are unorthodox and open minded. This outlook primarily helped som to pursue a career in music, after doing his graduation in english honors from calcutta university.
som and raul met each other in mumbai while pursuing their course in sound engineering from SAE college.
It was during this period of time when they both realized that they share common musical taste and likes. Ever since they started living together as room mates. The goal was common, that is to score for mainstream bollywood movie as a composer duo.
Their struggle started in the year 2008, which includes sleepless nights, rejection from producers, getting mislead by fake filmmakers etc.
mumbai is a wild city and to survive here is a task in itself. In the meantime, to earn his bread n butter Som started of programming and arranging bollywood tracks professionally which he continues to do till date. He has produced tracks for music directors like amal malice, vivid kar, gajendra verma. he has produced tracks for films like "sanam re".."meruthiya gangsters'.."direct ishq".."one night stand" etc.
som-raul also gave background music for hit television shows like " hum se hai life".."suvreen guggal".
There after Raul choose to tour as a guitarist with renowned singers. {put your data here}
Som continued to give music for tv shows like "the buddy project" .."savdhan india".."palak pe jhalak" and the latest musical drama
"meri a hi meri pehchaan" aired in "and tv" with very talented music composer Shivi. R.Kashyap.
In 2014, soma and raul's common friend upasana chettri, who by proffession is an assistant Director gave them a call saying
"mannish jha is directing a movie , why don't you guys come and pitch for it? ". This phone call changed everything in som raul's life.
They went for pitching and manish jha well known for his critically acclaimed film "matroobhumi" and also "anwar" gave them the situation for the song in his film.
after a week of hardwork, they went to his office with 17 different tracks. Unfortunately all of them got rejected. Frustrated, they came back home and
locked themselves up in their room. All of a sudden both of them woke up and the tune of the song "nikhattoo" clicked in. Next morning they rushed to jha's office for the pitching.
Manish jha, after listening to the rough cut nodded his head and said " bingo! this is the track i was looking for. Go downstairs and sign the agreement!"
This was the biggest day in som-raul musical career. After this their upcomin film "The Legend Of Michael Misra" got delayed.
However Som-Raul is all set to rock the audience with their super quirky and mad number " Nikhattoo". The film is scheduled to be released on
5th august this year.
